Bree has a particular interest in advocacy (both in the courtroom and in written arguments). Bree is adept in the art carefully assessing the strength of the case against her clients, and has successfully negotiated a variety of criminal matters to an early and favourable resolution.
A calm and eloquent advocate, Bree regularly appears as Solicitor Advocate in the Magistrates Court and in the District Court of Queensland in trials, sentences, and bail applications of varying levels of complexity. Bree also enjoys working closely with counsel to achieve favourable outcomes for clients facing serious criminal offences before the District, Supreme and Children’s Court of Queensland. Bree can also assist clients with appeals against conviction or sentence before the District Court of Queensland, and regularly briefs counsel for appeals heard by the Queensland Court of Appeal.
Bree’s knowledge and experience in the criminal law space is incredibly diverse and has traversed a variety of areas including serious and general crimes, drug related and sexual offending, rehabilitative sentencing in the Queensland Drug and Alcohol Court, juvenile justice, and applications for and reviews of orders under the Dangerous Prisoner (Sexual Offenders) Act.
Bree achieves excellent outcomes for a diverse range of clients through her empathetic approach to advocacy and her finely tuned ability to identify, investigate and work around communication barriers which can complicate the instruction taking process for vulnerable clients. Bree is passionate about ensuring all clients are adequately informed of their rights and options within the justice system, and her calm and knowledgeable presence puts clients at ease, even in the most serious of criminal cases.
In her spare time, Bree has volunteered with the Caxton Legal Service, and otherwise spends time with her family and friends, playing music and enjoying the beach.
