On this day, the 13th of October 1973, the body of Gabriel Ingrid Jahnke was discovered at the bottom of a steep embankment next to the Pacific Highway, Ormeau at around 8am. The body of Michelle Ann Riley was later discovered about 12 metres away from the Mount Tamborine Highway, located around 6km south of the Logan Village. Her body was located at approximately 6pm on 23 October 1973.

The cause of death for both victims was a fractured skull. Jahnke and Riley were last seen alive exiting a black and white taxi near Petrie Bright around 10am on the 6th of October 1973.

To this day the murders of Gabriel Ingrid Jahnke and Michelle Ann Riley are yet to be solved. A $250,000 reward remains on offer from the Queensland Government for information which leads to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murders of Gabriel Ingrid Jahnke and Michelle Ann Riley.
