Queensland Unsolved Crimes: Murder of Frederick Hugh Rosson aka Charles Alexander “Slim” Johnston

On the 14th of March 2002 between the hours of 11.00am and 1.00pm, Frederick Hugh Rosson, aka Charles Alexander “Slim” Johnston, was shot and killed in the rear workshop area of his residence at 22 Pademelon Pass, Nerang. Mr Rosson was 68 years old at the time of his death.

A Post Mortem revealed that the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head. Mr Rosson had advertised his CZ 9mm pistol for sale in “The Personal Trading Post” during the weeks leading up to his death. The weapon and a quantity of ammunition was found to be missing following the discovery of his body.  A red Toyota Celica Coupe was seen driving to the victims address around the time of his death. This owner of this vehicle has been identified as Ian Stewart Hogg (46 years).  Mr Hogg went missing from his Currumbin home under suspicious circumstances and has not been heard from since he contacted his mother on the even of the 10th of March 2002.

The Minister for Police and Corrective Services has approved a reward of $250,000 be offered for information which leads to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Frederick Hugh ROSSON aka Charles Alexander “Slim” Johnstonat Nerang on 14 March 2002.
